Saint Patrick's Day is Coming!

Well, March is fast approaching and with it, Saint Patrick's Day.  The day of leprechauns, shamrocks, pot of gold, green beer and green rivers.  The day when half the nation claims to be of Irish descent :-)

So my post today will feature some Irish and Saint Patrick's day related items, starting with this greeting card featuring a lovely vintage illustration of a lady clad in green, with a basket of shamrocks. The front of the card has the popular Irish phrase "The Top of the Morning to You" on it and the illustration is framed in a rich green Irish plaid pattern.

I really love these vintage illustrations that are available in the public domain. Here's another card I made using one, this time a lady in green holding a flag bearing the image of a golden harp and the phrase Erin Go Bragh - or Ireland Forever. The illustration on this card is framed with a rich green damask pattern.

A jaunty green Leprechaun's hat decorates this St. Patrick's Day card, with the greetings "May the luck o' the Irish be with you always" in green lettering. The front greeting is framed with a green Irish plaid.

Show your Irish heritage with pride by wearing a button featuring a green shamrock and the words Made in Ireland. Even if you weren't actually born there, there's nothing to stop you being Irish for a day - especially on St. Paddy's Day :-)

This T-short, bearing the words "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" is sure to get your St. Patrick's Day reveling off to a good start.

And finally, because most St. Patrick's Day celebrations seem to be centered around the imbibing of adult beverages, these coasters will set the scene perfectly, and protect your furniture at the same time :-)

So that's it for my designs today.  Now I'm going to share some great Saint Patrick's Day items from other designers that caught my eye - starting with this great Irish Pub coaster by Cute-n-comfy.

The design features a banner which can be customized with your family name, a gold seal with a glass stein of ale and two four-leaf clover shamrocks. Vintage faux wood background with a green stain and a round shape that looks like the end or top of a wood barrel. Sure to turn heads this St. Patrick's day and makes a great gift for guys.

Continuing with the bar ware theme, "Today We're All Irish!" is the quote on these St. Patrick's Day coasters featuring a green vintage truck with a bunch of shamrocks. Personalize the sample last name "Fitzpatrick" to your own.

This beer stein, from ClannIrish, features shamrocks and the Irish toast 'sláinte mhaith' or "cheers"- all you need now is the green beer to fill it with:-)

This St. Patrick's Day card from Trudy Wilkerson features a lovely jeweled Celtic Cross and the phrase Happy St. Patrick's Day on a dark green ground.

And finally, your pooch can join in the celebrations with this "Erin Go Bark" dog shirt from AstralCity.

Spring is Just Around the Corner

So it's official. Puxatawney Phil did not see his shadow and, according to legend, that means an early spring is on the way.

Of course, here in Texas, it's been lovely weather all weekend, and I've been out in the garden today, trying to get the weed beds, aka flower beds, under control.

So today's post is going to include some gift items featuring spring and garden related images.

First up is this throw pillow featuring richly colored pink Camelias set against dark green leaves.  Wouldn't this look great on a chair in the garden room, or on the patio?

Nothing says "spring" in Texas quite like seeing pastures and roadsides ablaze in drifts of bluebonnets. This photo was taken on a country drive out to Washington County a few years ago and I have added it to quite a few items, including this mouse pad and even a night light.

This jigsaw puzzle features a digital painting, based on a photo I took of raindrops on a beautiful yellow rose at the Royal Horticultural Society garden in Wisley, Surrey UK. I think it would make quite a challenge for any gardener to complete :-)

So that's it from me today.  Now I'm going to highlight some spring and garden related items by of the other talented designers on Zazzle.

First is this lovely garden planner.

Binders make wonderful garden planners and organizers. Store and organize your seed packages, planting logs, bed diagrams, planting diary, photographs, drawings and sketches, record seasonal rotations... the works! The background painting is a rendition of Vincent Van Gogh's wonderful, Field With Poppies, circa 1889.

Here's another throw pillow that would look right at home on a porch swing or patio chair,. The design is vintage, featuring flowers, butterflies and a bee, which is so important for the Jardin de Fleurs.

This kitchen towel reads Keep Calm and Garden On, in the style of the classic keep calm poster. Leaves are growing from the letters. The background color is green, but it's easily customized to any color of your choice.

This cute little mug, featuring the phrase "I love gardening - very mulch" would make a perfect gift for that gardening friend, or you could just sit and drink your coffee from it while planning your garden chores.
